For project 2 the third year students had to design a 80sqm house to the well known artist Willie bester. They were given a choice between a desert site or a sub-tropical site to work on. I chose to design on the desert site as it fascinated me for being a type of climate i did not know much.

The rise of Willie Bester from unknown artist holding a first exhibition (1988) to one internationally in demand a few years later has been meteoric.
Concept
Context:
Hot climate with high humidity
Surrounding buildings are narrow to maximise the cross ventilation
Courtyards to be used to cool down the interior spaces.
Functions:
Functions are to be used as an artist retreat.
Served and servant spaces
Technology:
Use of the available Materials found on site.
